Marketing Distribution Assistant

Works with the Marketing Distribution Manager to foster and support both domestic and international sales of books from the Press's distribution client publisher program.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements critical operational aspects of the Press's Marketing Distribution program.
  • Self-directed responsibilities include monitoring client press delivery dates and stock levels.
  • Following up with clients as necessary and communicating information to appropriate staff.
  • Setting up initial seasonal title and metadata records; seasonal jacket/cover file processing for Press website and other online retail or discovery venues.
  • Monitors tables of contents and enters those into the Book Division database when necessary.
  • Works with in-house staff to maintain and update client title information and metadata on the Books Division database, processes stock orders from the warehouse, and keeps the Marketing Distribution Manager up-to-date and informed.
  • Maintains the Distribution Library.
  • Helps coordinate seasonal sales conference scheduling, events, troubleshooting. Maintains and monitors clients' Press web pages for accuracy, omissions, potential improvement. Attends departmental meetings and other Press functions as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Ability to coordinate a wide variety of tasks under time pressure required.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of clients required.
  • An understanding of foreign cultures and styles of doing business is a plus, as is the ability to make independent decisions required.
  • May require some domestic travel.

Additional Requirements

Education, Experience or Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.  

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of publishing or related experience preferred.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with databases strongly preferred.
