Senior Research Support Specialist

The Translational Pharmacology Research Core (TPRC) program based in the UB Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences (CBLS) conducts innovative research and fosters collaborations in new areas of drug development and therapeutics implementation research including pre-clinical evaluation, phase I, II, and III FDA trials, ongoing post-approval Phase IV research, nanomedicine, health information technology, and medication management. The TPRC is an internationally recognized leader in antiviral pharmacology and has an expanding global health program. We are proud of the impact that our global partnerships have had on the biomedical research and healthcare implementation capacity building efforts in low to middle income countries and are continuously developing and growing our program in Buffalo. The TPRC also actively participates in many undergraduate and graduate programs by providing lectures and experiential opportunities. We are currently seeking to add a Senior Research Support Specialist to our team.
The SRSS position includes the following responsibilities:
• Provide operational support and leadership for multiple project-related research and training programs including, but not limited to, purchasing, human resources, travel, and scientific dissemination.
• Participate in weekly review of budget balances and projections for various projects
• Prepare financial reports and projections based on technical, operational and administrative information from TPRC staff for various projects
• Meet weekly or ad hoc as needed to review the necessary % effort changes of staff to awards/contracts based on the 2 above bullets.
• Communicate above changes to departmental staff
• Serve as operations point of contact for multiple projects; communicate with sponsors, co-investigators, University departments, business and international partners as required by the projects
• Mentor new faculty supported by the TPRC regarding operational procedures for various projects
• Identify policies, processes and procedures needing refinement and/or enhancement and work with the TPRC Grants Management team to formalize and/or refine existing processes and procedures for various projects.
• Serve as a team member to the TPRC for various projects and perform appropriate duties that will further the mission of the unit.
• Regularly communicate with the PI regarding day-to-day operations and challenges for various TPRC projects
