Tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Literacy Education

The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, SUNY invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in Literacy Education, in the Department of Learning and Instruction. The Department of Learning and Instruction has a long history of research excellence and a strong tradition of teaching and community engagement. Faculty demonstrate a commitment to creating a collegial academic environment characterized by equity, social justice, interdisciplinary collaboration, an ethic of care, and research demonstrating an impact on children and youth, schools, or communities.
We seek candidates to join a collaborative group of scholars who are committed to engaging in research that addresses problems of practice and that seek to transform literacy learning and teaching in urban school settings particularly within newcomer/immigrant/refugee educational contexts. We seek candidates who research interests align with a departmental commitment to increase educational, social, and economic opportunities for individuals and communities.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining an active and productive research agenda commensurate with Research 1 tenure track faculty appointments
• Seeking external grant funding
• Teaching two courses per semester at the graduate level in the literacy Masters programs and PhD program
• Teaching and Advising Ed.M. and Ph.D. Students
