Nurse Practitioner

The University at Buffalo School of Social Work is embarking on a new strategic focus on transnational research with the creation of a Behavioral Health Clinic (BHC). The BHC, located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus at 1021 Main St., is an outpatient clinic where research-based treatment programs, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), are used to find effective treatment for individuals with alcohol use disorders. Individual outpatient treatment is available to eligible community members.
The successful candidate will:
• Provide medical consultation and referral services
• Review medical records and provide recommendations for further medical referral
• Assess complications of withdrawal, recommend appropriate level of medical care
• Conduct physical exams, when indicated
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
• Minor primary care, office-based procedure skills.
• Customer-focused service skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates sympathy & empathy in interactions
• Microsoft Office proficient
• Electronic medical record documentation competency
• Consult with staff, as needed
The successful candidate will also possess:
Thorough knowledge of health principles, practices and techniques; thorough knowledge of physical examination and diagnosis procedures, equipment and skill in performing such examinations and procedures; good knowledge of the current developments, literature and sources of information in the field of health services; ability to establish and maintains good public and inter-personal relations, ability to prepare oral and written reports; tact; dependability; initiative; confidentiality; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
