Assistant Director, Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)

The University at Buffalo (UB) Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) seeks to hire an Assistant Director.  The Assistant Director helps to manage a grant funded program that prepares secondary school students, who are either economically disadvantaged or minorities historically underrepresented in scientific, technical, health, health-related and licensed professions, for entry into postsecondary degree programs in scientific, technical, health-related fields, and the licensed professions. The Assistant Director will establish, cultivate, and steward relationships with internal and external partners as appropriate to further the mission of UB STEP. The Assistant Director will coordinate student services and maintain relevant data and reports. The Assistant Director reports to the STEP Director. 
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach and evaluate designated STEP staff members
  • Oversee and maintain program data and reports related to student advisement, case management, and referrals
  • Coordinate personal and academic counseling services
  • Oversee testing, student assessment and tutoring services
  • Develop curriculum and plan enrichment activities
  • Manage a caseload of students
  • Foster networking opportunities that will benefit students enrolled in the program
