Enrollment Services Advisor, Office of Admissions/Financial Aid

Buffalo, New York ~ January 10, 2022

During peak recruitment periods, the counselor will actively represent the university and its programs at in-state and out-of-state recruitment events, including high school and college visits, college fairs, visits to schools and community-based organizations, receptions, interviews, information sessions,  group presentations in addition to virtual recruitment initiatives to include evenings, late night and weekends.  This staff person will actively manage their assigned territories and will assist in data analysis to measure effectiveness.  The individuals will build and cultivate key relationships and partnerships with constituents, such as; secondary school communities, community colleges, community-based organizations, alumni, and professional organizations.  Representing Admissions and Financial Aid the counselors will participate in all large on-campus and off-campus recruitment and yield events and assist with outreach initiatives, fielding phone inquiries, in person/virtual consultations and will actively participate in on-campus recruitment events, including the Visit UB program and campus group presentations and tours. In addition, the counselor will be part of the multicultural team and will support the University’s mission of building an academically excellent and diverse educational community. 
The individuals will assist with all phases of application processing.  File review activities will include monitoring files for completeness, data entry and fielding questions from applicants. The counselor will also review and make admissions decisions regarding freshmen and transfer applications; will become well versed with university admissions requirements for all programs and will monitor application data within their assigned region.
Extensive US travel to recruit students via attendance at organized recruitment events or visits to schools, including evenings, weekends and overnight travel.  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs for this position.

Financial Aid duties:  During non-peak recruitment periods, the individual will assist the Office of Financial Aid with counseling and processing activities.  H/she will analyze and evaluate financial aid applications and will make decisions on eligibility.   H/she will be required to interpret and retain federal and state regulations to maintain compliance and will counsel students/parents on a variety of available aid programs.  H/she will also interact with other student service departments and other business offices to facilitate the student financial aid eligibility process and will make necessary referrals to other student service offices. H/she will represent the university in various Financial Aid and Admissions informational sessions.

Collaborate with campus partners to improve the student experience.  Assist with a wide range on integral activities to support administrative strategic decisions with regard to recruiting and retaining students. Given the fluidity of enrollment management, flexibility is necessary to be successful in a variety of responsibilities such as: 
·         Participation in on and off campus event and initiatives within Enrollment Management 
·         Guiding students through their college search and selection process form application to enrollment through graduation
·          Supporting student enrollment within all areas of Enrollment Management: including but not limited to Domestic Admissions, Financial Aid, EOP, and International Admissions
·         Other relevant duties as assigned
